Vol. 203 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Telephone Charges.

52.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the very high telephone charges between Cashel exchange and East Tipperary; and if, in view of the fact that many poor people desire information as to their friends who are ill in Our Lady's Hospital and St. Patrick's Hospital, Cashel, he will have these charges reduced, thereby putting the subscribers from Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir, Fethard, Clogheen, Killenaule and Ballingarry on equal terms with those in West Tipperary.

The charges in operation and the facilities afforded subscribers in the areas mentioned compare reasonably with those in other counties. The local call range of all the subscribers concerned was substantially increased by the introduction of the present charging arrangements and there is no intention at present to alter these arrangements.
