Vol. 204 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cottage Repair Appeals.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of appeals which he has received from cottage tenants in County Kildare who are anxious to purchase their cottages; the number of appeals which have been decided; the number of cases awaiting decision; and when they are likely to be decided.

Eighty-three valid appeals under Section 18 of the Labourers Act, 1936, were received in my Department from tenant purchasers in County Kildare in the twelve months ended 30th June, 1963: 84 appeals were determined during the same period: 22 further appeals have been determined since 1st July and the position now is that there are 120 appeals under consideration. Fifty-five of these will be determined shortly. The balance are at various stages and, while it is not possible to say when they will be determined, they will be discharged with the least possible delay in each case.
