Vol. 206 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballinasloe (Galway) Turbary.

30.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission will acquire the portion of bog at Kellysgrove, Ballinasloe, County Galway, now being let to CIE who have no further use for it, with a view to accommodating people who require turbary in the locality.

Resumption of the area in question, which was allotted to the Grand Canal Company in 1941, is not contemplated.

I understand that local requirements can be catered for on residual turbary, comprising 213 acres, already in the possession of the Land Commission. Proposals for allocation of turbary rights on part of this area are under consideration.
