Vol. 207 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valentia Bridge.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the plans for the Valentia Bridge will be completed by his Department for handing over to the Kerry County Council to enable the work to be put up for tender.

Kerry County Council's proposals for the opening span of the proposed bridge are at present under examination in the Department in consultation with the council's consultant. A decision on the proposals will be conveyed to the county council as soon as outstanding points are settled. It is hoped that this stage will be reached in about three weeks' time.

No proposals have yet been received from the council in regard to the design details of the rest of the bridge. These details cannot be finalised until a decision is made on a tender for the opening span. When a tender is accepted for the opening span, there will be very little delay in dealing with the design of the rest of the bridge.
