Vol. 208 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order Nos. 1, 2, 8, 9—Vote 48. It is proposed to interrupt business at 1.30 p.m. to take No. 9, Vote 48, and to resume No. 8 after questions.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment this evening, in relation to the booklet "Facts About Ireland," published by the Department of External Affairs, (1) the cost and (2) that the historical section is partisan and omits reference to major historical events and personages while emphasising the part played by certain other individuals.

I shall communicate with the Deputy in the course of the day.

I recall that we have already set down a motion and have asked for time next week in regard to this matter. I should be glad to know when the Taoiseach proposes to make time available to discuss this motion.

I suggest that I should order the Estimate for the Department of External Affairs for Thursday on which Deputies can raise anything they like in relation to the Minister's duty, but I hope they will have more important matters to discuss.

I understand that that Estimate has not yet been circulated.

It is to be circulated on Tuesday evening.

I presume the Minister for External Affairs will be wearing his green trousers?

Time will be provided next week to discuss this matter?

If the Deputy wishes to move the motion in conjunction with the Estimate, I have no objection, but I hope the Deputy and other Deputies will have more important matters to raise.

(Interruptions.)

There is plenty of time yet. The day is only beginning.

All are getting into the act.

You have some on your own side also.

These observations from the Leader of the House do not raise the standard of the proceedings.
