asked the Minister for Local Government the number of plans for work on arterial road T.1. Dublin-Belfast received from Meath County Council; the date of receipt of the first plan, and the date of receipt of the last plan; and when he expects that Meath County Council will be able to commence work on this road.

There have been engineering consultations between Meath County Council and my Department on the design of the proposed improvement to dual-carriage-way standard of the Meath section of the Dublin-Belfast Road, T.1., but no proposals have been submitted by the council for formal approval. I understand that the planning of the work locally is at a preliminary stage, and that the necessary land has yet to be acquired. In the circumstances I cannot say when the council will be in a position to proceed with the work.
