asked the Minister for Education if he will supply the following information in connection with the national schools at (1) Knocks and (2) Tumgesh in the Swinford area of County Mayo: (a) the manager's name, (b) the principal teacher's name, (c) the qualifications of the principal teacher in each case, (d) the number of teachers in each school, (e) the average school attendance, giving the latest available figures, (f) the number of pupils presented for secondary schools scholarships in each of the past three years, and (g) the number of scholarships obtained by the pupils presented.

Normal practice precludes me from giving the names of individual managers and teachers.

There are two teachers on the staff of each of these schools and both principals are trained national teachers. No pupils were presented for the post-primary scholarships examination from Knocks national school in any of the past three years. Three pupils were forwarded from Tumgesh national school in 1963, but were not successful in obtaining scholarships.

The average attendance at the schools for the year ended 31st December, 1963 was
