Vol. 210 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Maine Drainage.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that many farmers have complained about the way drainage work was carried out on the River Maine; and that many acres of meadowland have been left useless, especially the upper portion; and what action he proposes to take to remedy the matter.

On completion of the works in this case, notices were published in newspapers in accordance with the Act inviting objections from persons affected. While some objections were received and were fully investigated none were of the nature referred to by the Deputy. I am satisfied that the works were well carried out and that they have conferred great benefit on the area. As the certificate of completion has been issued, there is no further action which I can take.
