Vol. 221 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Tipperary Housing Land.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a considerable amount of work under the direct labour scheme in North Tipperary is at present held up owing to the failure of his Department to sanction land acquisition, tenders, etc.; and if he will take steps to expedite sanction of these matters so that the work may proceed.

I am not so aware. There are no proposals for land acquisition by Tipperary North Riding County Council at present before my Department. I hope to be in a position to give a decision on the direct labour and tender proposals for the erection of cottages submitted by the council when the detailed consultations with housing authorities in regard to their capital allocation for the coming financial year have been finalised.
