Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction in the near future the tender submitted to him by Donegal County Council for the Ardara water scheme.

Tenders for this scheme are still under consideration in my Department. I am not in a position to say when sanction thereto is likely to issue.

Question No. 41.

I will ask that question on behalf of Deputy L'Estrange, Sir.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government when work will start on the proposed extensions to the Newtowncashel, Elfeet and Derrydarragh water scheme which have already been approved.

I understand that work is completed on all the extensions to the Newtowncashel/Elfeet and Derrydarragh water scheme which have been approved by my Department. Proposals for an additional number of extensions to the scheme are at present under consideration. I am not in a position to say when approval thereto is likely to issue.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position of the Inch and Foiladown group water supply scheme at Clonkeen, Killarney, County Kerry.

The design documents for this scheme have not yet been received in my Department.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received proposals from Kerry County Council for a water supply scheme for Farranfore and Firies, County Kerry; and what is the present position in the matter.

Contract documents for stage 1 of the mid-Kerry regional water supply scheme which will serve the Farranfore and Firies areas are under consideration in my Department. I am not in a position to say when approval thereto is likely to issue.

44.

andMr. P. Hogan (South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Local Government the total expenditure on regional water schemes allowed to Tipperary South Riding Council for the present financial year; and if he will make a statement on the prospects for (1) Dundrum regional water scheme which costs £397,000 (2) Ardfinnan regional water scheme which costs £221,000 (3) Emly regional water scheme which costs £177,000 and (4) Killenaule sewerage scheme which costs £30,000.

The total capital allocation made to Tipperary (SR) County Council for expenditure on sanitary and miscellaneous services schemes for the current year amounted to £125,139. It is not feasible to apportion expenditure from the allocation as between the various categories of schemes.

Revised contract documents for Killenaule sewerage scheme were approved by my Department on 16th September, 1966. Loan applications for Dundrum, Ardfinnan, and Emly regional water supply schemes are still under consideration. I am not in a position to say when sanction is likely to issue thereto.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in relation to the inception of a sewerage scheme for Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath; and if he will take steps to expedite the installation thereof.

Westmeath County Council's preliminary proposals for a sewerage scheme to serve Tyrrellspass were approved on 18th October, 1966. I understand that the council's consulting engineer is preparing contract documents for the scheme.
