asked the Minister for Local Government whether the re-routing of traffic affecting the area adjacent to the Five Lamps, North Strand, Dublin will result in increased danger to children living in the extensive flat schemes in the locality; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Strand (Dublin) Traffic.
28.
I am not so aware, but I understand that Dublin Corporation who, with the Garda Síochána, are primarily concerned with Dublin traffic matters, are examining a complaint to this effect.
Is the Minister aware that the re-routing of traffic means that outward traffic travels down Buckingham Street and Killarney Street, in which area there is quite a number of flats, including St. Joseph's Flats, and children come out on to the road there, which means that there is a real danger for them and will he make sure that something is done about this?
It is being re-examined by the corporation.
I hope we do not have to wait for one or two fatalities before something is done.
Let us hope not.
