Vol. 229 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballymun Dispensary.

41.

asked the Minister for Health if it is intended to provide a dispensary at Ballymun, Dublin; if so, when; and if he will arrange for Larkhill dispensary, now used by Ballymun residents, to open each week-day as the present system of three day opening is inadequate to meet the increased demands for dispensary service.

I have approved of a proposal by Dublin Health Authority for the erection of a new health centre, in pre-fabricated construction, at Ballymun. The health authority have under examination tenders recently received for the project and it is hoped that it will be possible to make an early decision on the acceptance of a suitable tender.

The health authority state that the number of eligible persons from Ballymun attending the dispensary at Larkhill is very small and that they have no evidence that the service provided at the dispensary at present is inadequate to meet the needs of such persons. A dispensary session will be held each week-day in the health centre to be provided at Ballymun.
