Vol. 232 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sheep-Scab Outbreak.

5.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will make a statement on the outbreak of sheep-scab in north Cork; and what measures have been taken to confine the disease.

An outbreak of sheep-scab in the Doneraile area was notified to my Department on the 17th January and a further outbreak in the Buttevant area on the 30th January. Only one flock is affected in each area. The prescribed control measures covering restriction of movement of sheep on or off the farms concerned and dipping of the entire flocks are being taken by Cork County Council which is the appropriate authority for the purpose.
