Vol. 235 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Piers.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is proposed to carry out an extension to the pier at Burtonport, County Donegal, as distinct from harbour dredging.

A proposal to construct a new jetty and breakwater at Burtonport harbour is under consideration.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary care to tell the House when that question was first asked in the history of legislatures controlling this country and what the answer was on that occasion? Would it be correct to say the question was first asked in 1906 and the then Chief Secretary said the matter was in the hands of the Congested Districts Board?

The earliest recorded question I have got is 8th February, 1966.

Perhaps the Minister would consult some of his older files.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance the date on which work commenced on the new pier at Killybegs, County Donegal; when it is hoped to complete it; and the total amount of money spent to date on the pier.

Work on the construction of the new berthage quay at the Black Rock site commenced in April, 1964, and will be completed in about two months time. The cost of this work to date is £135,000.
