Grants are sanctioned by my Department towards the cost of improvements, including the installation of electric lighting, in national schools, provided the work is of an adequate standard and the cost is reasonable. While school managers are availing themselves of these grants to a large degree and are getting every encouragement to do so, I am not in a position to issue formal instructions in any individual case.
This question was put down because of the change in the hours of daylight saving. Now the children are going to school and returning from school in the dark.
