Vol. 239 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork School Transport.

62.

asked the Minister for Education when a transport service will be available for pupils having to travel from the Dawstown area to Blarney schools, County Cork.

All the children from the Dawstown area who are eligible for free transport by reason of age and distance from Blarney national schools have been provided with free transport.

I regret that the manager has not yet been informed of that fact, nor are there any buses.

We will sort that out after the election.

You will not be here then.

My information is that the manager has been informed, but I shall check that.

63.

asked the Minister for Education when a transport service will be available for pupils attending Glounthaune national schools, County Cork.

An application for the provision of free transport for certain children to Glounthaune national school, County Cork, has been forwarded to an inspector of my Department for investigation. On receipt of the inspector's report the application will receive sympathetic consideration.

64.

asked the Minister for Education if he will provide transport for a number of children at Oliver's Cross, Mallow to the Mallow national schools, County Cork.

Córas Iompair Éireann has informed my Department that eligible children from the Oliver's Cross area have been provided with free transport to Mallow National Schools since 26th February, 1969.

The delay in establishing the transport service was due to the difficulty experienced by the local contractor in obtaining delivery of a minibus.
