The general role of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara includes the development and improvement of the sea-fishing industry and the promotion and encouragement of any activity likely to be of benefit to the industry. The board's attitude to the particular undertaking referred to by the Deputy will, of course, depend on its assessment of the merits of the project but as yet no firm proposals are available to the board for study.
