The Irish Transport and General Workers Union wrote to my Department last week regarding the alleged supply of sub-standard concrete blocks to the building industry. Their representations have been brought to the notice of the appropriate inspectors of my Department who have been asked to report any instances of the use of sub-standard materials in local authority or grant-aided housing. I will have any specific complaints of the use of such material investigated if the necessary details are furnished to my Department.
