Vol. 254 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Housing.

107.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he received the layout and house plan of the housing scheme at Donore from Meath County Council; and when he expects to be in a position to sanction it.

Revised plans for this scheme were received in my Department on the 11th instant and are being examined. A decision will be given as soon as possible.

Would the Minister agree to do this very quickly in view of the fact that he has already turned down one proposal and that this is causing considerable delays?

To say that the Minister has turned it down might sound very well in County Meath but the facts of the situation are that the original layout which was received by the Department on 14th December last was not accepted because it did not comply with the requirements of the Department regarding the location of the septic tank for the scheme, which I imagine is a matter the Deputy would feel some concern about. Discussions took place between the Department's inspector and the consultant architect of the housing authority and it was agreed that a revised layout which would take into account the minimum acceptable distance between the septic tank and the nearest dwelling or public road would be prepared. In actual fact, when they re-submitted the plans the council had revised the house plans which we had not requested them to do.
