andDr. Thornley asked the Minister for Education if he will indicate the completion dates for the planned group units for children requiring residential care under the aegis of his Department.

andDr. Thornley asked the Minister for Education the number of houses his Department intend to acquire in suburban areas for groups of children requiring residential care; the locations of these houses; and if he will indicate who will be charged with the responsibility of running the houses.

The first group unit is being built at Moate. Negotiations are proceeding for the provision of other units at Rathdrum, Tralee, Drogheda and Killarney, either through the creation of new buildings or the purchase of existing suitable accommodation.
It is hoped to complete the Moate building early next year.
