Vol. 263 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Institute of Higher Education.

32.

andMr. Coughlan asked the Minister for Education if he will grant representation to Limerick City and County Councils on the governing body of the Limerick Institute of Higher Education as is the case in respect of the municipal bodies in Cork in relation to University College, Cork.

I am not in a position to anticipate the provisions of the legislation under which the Limerick Institute for Higher Education will be statutorily established and their governing body appointed.

Do I understand from the reply that the Minister is not in a position at the moment?

Has the Minister any idea when he will be in a position to let us know?

It is being examined in relation to the general question of third level education in the country.

When will the result be available?

I could not tell the Deputy.

Kathleen Mavourneen—it may be for years and it may be forever.
