Vol. 269 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Estates.

33.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission will start proceedings to acquire the Keily estate, Leickabeg, Clashmore, County Waterford, which consists of 380 acres and which has been let in conacre for a number of years past and divide the estate between the members of the West Waterford Small Holders' Association who reside in this area.

From the particulars supplied it has not been possible to identify the property referred to in the question.

I am asking the Land Commission to make further inquiries and perhaps, in the meantime, the Deputy could furnish any additional information which would help to identify the lands.

34.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission will start proceedings to acquire the estate of the late Mrs. O'Leary, Toor, Aglish, County Waterford, which consists of 45 acres let out in conacre and divide the land between the members of the West Waterford Small Holders' Association who reside in the area.

35.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission will (i) start proceedings to acquire the O'Leary estate at Toor, Aglish, County Waterford, which consists of 80 acres let in conacre and which was advertised for sale some 12 months ago and (ii) divide the estate between the members of the West Waterford Small Holders' Association who reside in the area.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 34 and 35 together.

There are no proposals for the acquisition of the holdings referred to but I shall arrange to have the Deputy's representations brought to the attention of the Land Commission.

36.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the O'Brien estate at Mount Stuart, Aglish, County Waterford, has as yet been acquired by the Land Commission; and, if not, if they will initiate proceedings to acquire it and to divide this rough mountain land, which is suitable for grazing sheep, between the members of the West Waterford Small Holders' Association, who reside in the area.

Proceedings for the compulsory acquisition of the property referred to are in progress and have reached the stage where an objection lodged on behalf of the owner is pending for determination.

It is not possible to say at present what the outcome of these proceedings may be.
