Vol. 273 No. 11

Business of Dáil.

I understand that the Opposition were anxious to get information on the business it is proposed to deal with before the Recess. It is proposed to complete before the Summer Recess the Anti-Discrimination (Pay) Bill, 1974; the Maintenance Orders Bill, 1974; the Adoption Bill, 1974; the Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Bill, 1974; the Prosecution of Offences Bill, 1974; the Trade Union (Amalgamations) Bill, 1974; the Agriculture (Amendment) Bill, 1974; the Export Promotion (Amendment) Bill, 1974 and the Finance Bill, 1974. In addition to these nine, all of which have been introduced and some of which have been circulated and discussed, it is hoped, if possible, to complete the following Bills which have not yet been introduced: the Industrial Credit (Amendment) Bill, 1974; the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Bill, 1974, and the Shannon Free Airport Development Company Limited (Amendment) Bill, 1974. There are three other Bills at present on the Order Paper: the Local Government (Planning and Development) Bill, 1973; the Misuse of Drugs Bill, 1973; and the Control of Importation, Sale and Manufacture of Contraceptives Bill, 1974, and it is hoped to advance these three Bills and any other which may be introduced as far as time allows before the Recess.

Some of these Bills are at various stages of progress— Report Stage, Committee Stage and so on—while others are being introduced today and some have not been introduced yet. Therefore, in the normal course of procedure we can expect to adjourn some time in September.

We are more optimistic than that.

Are we to take it that it is not the intention of the Government to have the Planning Bill passed by both Houses before the Recess and to have set up this independent planning board before the House adjourns?

If we get co-operation, it might be possible to deal with it quickly.

Is it proposed to take the Planning Bill next week?

We hope to deal with some of it. We hope, also, to advance with all of these Bills as reapidly as possible.

But is it proposed to take the Planning Bill next week?

The Deputy had it on the Order Paper from 1969 until he went out of office.

We had hoped to take that Bill today.

I understand that the Minister for Local Government made a statement today regarding a further amendment to this Bill. Would that amendment be incorporated in the Bill that it is proposed to take next week?

It would be dealt with in the same way as any ministerial amendment would be dealt with on Committee Stage.

I wish to give notice of my intention to raise on the Adjournment the proposed imminent closure of the Irish Crystal Glass Company at Galway.

The Chair will communicate with Deputy Molloy on the matter.

I am ahead of the Deputy. The company are not closing for another month.

That is of little consequence to the 200 workers concerned.

When the Deputy was there he made a mess of it.

It did not close then.
