Vol. 281 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Schools.

25.

asked the Minister for Education when he proposes to pay the amount due for the redecoration of the national schools at Raheny, Dublin, which was completed last year.

Mr. R. Burke

The separate scheme of painting grants for national schools was discontinued as from 31st December, 1974, and the application for the grant in the case of these schools was not received in time to have the payment made by that date. I am hopeful, however, that suitable arrangements can be made for the payment of the grant in this case and in the case of other schools in which similar circumstances arose and I am trying to have those arrangements completed as early as possible.

26.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to provide a permanent structure to replace the temporary prefabricated class units at Scoil Éanna, Ardlea Road, Artane, Dublin.

Mr. R. Burke

The national school at Ardlea Road was erected in three stages at different dates between 1967 and 1972. The intention when the first stage was erected was that the prefabricated buildings would be used for about ten years and that the school accommodation needs of the area would be reviewed before the end of that period. I have given a direction that that review be now initiated. Until the review has been completed, I will not be in a position to say when permanent accommodation will be provided for the school.
