Vol. 282 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary School Courses.

15.

asked the Minister for Education the number of vocational schools in South Tipperary that have a senior cycle course; and the number, if any, to which it is intended to extend this facility.

There are five vocational schools with senior cycles in Tipperary South Riding. There are no proposals from the vocational education committee before my Department for the provision of senior cycle courses in the other two vocational schools under the jurisdiction of the committee.

How many senior schools have been refused and how many senior schools have not got the senior cycle courses?

I already said two.

What are the names of those schools?

Cashel and Cappawhite.

You are in an awful rush. We are not in a bowling centre now.

The Deputy is reflecting on the Chair. I do not know whether he realises it.

The Leas-Cheann Comhairle is not in good humour. I should like to know when it is intended to give senior cycle courses to Cashel and Cappawhite.

There has been no application from the vocational education committee.

Have any applications been made in the past?

I am not aware of any. If applications are received, they will be considered. There are no applications before the Department at the moment.

Applications have been made.

I did not say, one way or the other. There is no application before the Department now.

I understood this morning that Questions were to be taken between 2.30 and 3.30 p.m.

The position is that by agreement it was decided to continue with the Bill before the House at 2.30 and that questions would be given one hour.

I did not know because I was out of the House.

Question Time will expire at 4.5 p.m.
