RTE have advised that, because of the nature of the terrain in the Leenane area, any form of conventional transmitter would only provide a partial improvement in reception there. They have had discussions with local residents and are examining the possibility of solving the problem by means of a cable system which would be provided on a co-operative basis. If the residents decide to proceed with the provision of a cable system RTE will be prepared to offer advice and assistance in the matter.
