Vol. 288 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Community Schools Contract.

14.

asked the Minister for Education why the contract for the building of community schools in Ballincollig, Cork and Ballynauly, Limerick was given to a foreign firm; and if, in view of the Press publicity, he will make a statement on the matter.

The contract in question was secured by an Irish firm.

Did I understand the Minister to say that the contract was secured by an Irish firm?

That is correct. The main contractors are a Cork firm. The architects are a Dublin firm as are the quantity surveyors and also the services engineer and the structural engineer.

I think the question was intended to relate to fibre glass materials used in the construction of community schools.

That was not the question that was asked.

The Deputy would need to put down a question on those lines.

We will do that.
