Vol. 288 No. 2

Written Answers. - Capital Inflow.

81.

asked the Minister for Finance the capital inflow in each of the years since 1970; and the percentage of all new jobs dependent on this inflow.

The following are the figures for Ireland's net capital inflow in each of the years 1970 to 1974. The outturn for 1975 is not yet available.

* Provisional.

As I indicated in reply to a similar question from the Deputy on 26th March, 1974, it is not possible, because of the diverse nature of capital inflows, to relate them directly to job creation. However, the IDA estimate that the proportion of new job approvals, associated with grant-aided projects sponsored by overseas promoters, is of the order of 55 per cent.
