asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will furnish an estimate of the receipts and payments of the social insurance fund in the present year for the purposes of the Social Welfare Act, 1977, in the form of a reply of 3rd December, 1974; and the estimated employee contribution as a percentage of the total receipts including the Exchequer contribution.

The table hereunder gives particulars of the estimated receipts and payments of the social insurance fund for 1977 expressed as an average weekly amount in respect of each effectively insured person. It is estimated that employee contributions will represent approximately 28.75 per cent of total receipts in 1977.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the estimated number of persons employed in teaching, local and public authorities and statutory transport undertakings who pay a reduced rate of social insurance contribution.

The latest estimate of the number of insured persons employed in teaching, local and public authorities and statutory transport undertakings who pay reduced rate social insurance contributions is as follows: Teachers, 21,500; Local and Public Authorities, 44,900; Statutory Transport Undertakings, 3,200.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total amount of contributions made by (a) employers and (b) employees to the social insurance fund in 1975 and 1976 and the estimate for 1977.
