Vol. 299 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a person who is refused a new house grant on financial grounds can qualify for a State water grant.

New houses which are built without the aid of State grants are ineligible for assistance towards the cost of installing piped water and/ or sewerage, during the construction of these houses. This is a logical consequence of the restrictions on new house grants which include £50 for piped water and £25 for sewerage facilities. An exception may, however, be made if piped water and sewerage facilities are provided following bona fide completion and occupation of a new house.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange for an inspector to call to a person (name supplied) in County Cork to discuss his application for a water grant with him personally as they did not meet on the inspector's last visit.

The supervising inspector for the area will meet this applicant in the near future.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government when his Department will give approval for the primary report of the Oldcastle/Kells water scheme, County Meath, which was submitted to his Department.

The preliminary proposals received in my Department on 12th April, 1977, are being examined. I am not yet in a position to say when a decision may be reached.
