Vol. 307 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions . Oral Answers . - Shankill (Dublin) By-Pass Road .

24.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state the prospects that exist for an early allocation of funds for the construction of the planned by-pass road at Shankill, County Dublin.

: Revised preliminary proposals for a by-pass of Shankill were received recently from the Dublin County Council and are at present being examined.

The question of grant allocation will not arise until final plans have been settled.

: Will the Minister state when this examination will be completed? This is a major national primary road and I think he will accept that there is a greater degree of urgency here than exists in other areas.

: The documents were received by my Department on 10 April 1978 and they are at present under examination. Until that examination is completed a grant cannot be made available.

: I accept that the Minister received the documents only on 10 April. Can he give the House an indication when that examination can be expected to be completed? Will it be within the current year?

: I would expect so if there are not matters on which we cannot get an early agreement. At this stage I do not know whether it will involve CPOs or what else will be involved. As I have said, it is a new proposal and it is being examined at the moment. Therefore, I am not able to go into further detail.

: Question No. 25 is for written reply.
