asked the Minister for Health if he will state, in relation to the Central Mental Hospital, Dundrum, Dublin, (a) the average number of patients in the last three years; (b) the average number of staff in each of the last three years; (c) the number of escapes from custody there in each of the last three years; (d) the number of escapers, if any, who have not been recaptured in each of the last three years; and (e) the highest number of patients the institution has contained at any time in the last three years, and the date concerned.

(e) The highest number of patients the hospital has contained during the last three years was during the period 30 December 1977 to 4 January 1978.

One of the patients who escaped during 1975-76 escaped while under treatment in a general hospital. One of the patients who escaped during 1977-78 escaped while on accompanied parole.
