I cannot say at this stage when I will be in a position to convey approval to the local authority to seek tenders for this scheme for which contract documents are at present under consideration in my Department.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the application of the Wicklow County Council for water extraction rights for the Tinahely/Carnew regional water scheme.
A public local inquiry will be held in relation to this application as soon as possible but before this is done it will be necessary for the council to complete certain statutory procedural requirements. The council are being informed accordingly.
