Vol. 316 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 3, 6, 7 and 8. By agreement it is proposed that No. 3 will be taken without debate but it may be discussed in debate on No. 6.

I ask the Taoiseach or the Tánaiste to tell the House, in view of the fact that Government time is being refused for a debate on the economy, when we may expect this year's White Paper to be published.

I cannot say yet, but as the Deputy has given me notice of it I will check and see if I can give him the information.

I ask the Taoiseach to give the House an assurance that the White Paper will be published long enough before the adjournment of the Dáil to permit it being debated separately and that we will not be asked to lump the White Paper and the Adjournment Debate together with each other.

I cannot give such an assurance in view of the very heavy nature of Dáil business.

It is no heavier than it was in our time and we found time for a debate on the economy. Every one of their targets is 50 per cent if not 100 per cent short. They have the thing in ruins.

I give notice that I wish to raise on the Adjournment, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, the recent regulations regarding the driving licence made by the Minister for the Environment.

I will communicate with the Deputy.
