asked the Minister for the Environment the number of (a) new private houses, (b) new local authority houses and (c) conversions erected in 1979.
Written Answers. - House Building Figures.
New house completions in 1979 were as follows: (a) 20,330 private houses, including an estimated 450 conversions; (b) 6,214 local authority houses. Twenty-five of the houses at (a) were provided by the Irish Land Commission and the Office of Public Works.

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money being allocated to each local authority for 1980, (a) for erection of local authority houses and (b) for SDA loans with comparative figures for 1979.
I expect to notify housing authorities shortly of their capital allocations for existing commitments on their local authority house construction programmes in 1980, including new work already started this year. In accordance with normal practice for a number of years past, additional allocations will be made later in the year to authorities for more new work.
I will forward details of the commitments allocations to the Deputy, with comparative figures for 1979, as soon as they are available. An initial allocation for the payment of house purchase and reconstruction loans and supplementary grants is notified to local authorities at the beginning of each year for the six month period ending on 30 June. A further allocation is made in July. A separate allocation is not made for house purchase loans. The allocation also provides for payment of reconstruction and low rise mortgage loans, and supplementary grants. On 11 March I notified authorities of their initial allocations for this purpose for the period ending 30 June 1980. Details of the allocation to each authority together with comparative figures for 1979 are as follows:—
