Vol. 320 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - McKinsey CIE Investigation.

5.

asked the Minister for Transport the cost of the current McKinsey investigations into CIE.

The cost up to the end of March of the Study of CIE's financial position which is being carried out by the consultants, McKinsey and Company Inc, was approximately £190,000 sterling.

Is it proposed to make available a copy of this report for study in the Oireachtas Library? Will the McKinsey Report be published or made available to Deputies?

The report is on a confidental basis at the moment, as I understand it. I shall consider the Deputy's request when I get the report.

Unfortunately, the money was not paid confidentially but comes out of the public purse.

When I get the report, I shall certainly hand a copy over to the Deputy.

When is it expected that the report will be finished?

In about August.

How many times have McKinsey looked into CIE?

That is a separate question.

They have been there a few times.

They certainly have and we all know the answer without giving anybody £100,000.

Some of the recommendations have been acted on.
