The fish counter was removed during week ended 3 October 1980 for repair.

There has been a serious decline in salmon stocks in many of our rivers in recent years. In the case of the River Erne it is considered that the decline is due to overfishing and to UDN disease. The results of salmon tagging experiments indicate that some of the salmon taken by nets along the County Donegal coast are destined for the River Erne.
