Vol. 323 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions . Oral Answers . - Tourism Report .

1.

asked the Taoiseach the reason the National Economic and Social Council report on tourism has not been published although it was completed in October 1979 in view of the fact that its proposals might assist in taking measures against the present recession in tourism; and if he intends to take measures to reduce delays in publishing the report.

: The report referred to was received from the NESC on 11 September 1980. It is being processed in accordance with normal procedures for the submission of these reports to the Government and for their subsequent publication. I expect that it will be published shortly.

I can assure the Deputy that there will be no avoidable delay in publishing NESC reports.

: What does "shortly" mean—a month or two months or two years?

: I do not think it will be more than a month.

: If it were a good report we would have had it before the Donegal by-election.

: This is a scientific report.

: Is not what the Taoiseach is doing in Donegal a scientific job?

: The good news from Donegal will be out on Friday.

: We heard that last year. We are in the silly season. What we want is good news for the whole country.
