Vol. 327 No. 10

Written Answers. - State Office Accommodation.

116.

asked the Minister for Energy the total annual rent paid by his Department and each semi-State body under the aegis of his Department in the city of Dublin for office accommodation; the rent per square foot for each office per annum; the length of time to the next rent review; and the property company or landlord to whom the rent is paid.

My Department are not responsible for the payment of rent for its office accommodation. This is a matter for the Office of Public Works.

The renting of office accommodation by the State bodies under the aegis of my Department, with the exception of the Irish National Petroleum Corporation, is primarily a matter for the day-to-day administration of the bodies concerned and an area in which I have no function. The Irish National Petroleum Corporation is, under its Articles of Association, required to obtain my consent for the leasing of office property. They do rent office accommodation. However, it is not the practice to disclose individual rents which are confidential as between the lessor and lessee. I can say that there is no provision for rent review because of short-term letting. The rent is paid to Allied Irish Banks Limited.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the total annual rent paid by his Department and each semi-State body under the aegis of his Department for office accommodation in the city of Dublin; the rent per square foot for each office per annum; the length of time to the next rent review; and the property company or landlord to whom the rent is paid.

Office accommodation occupied by my Department is provided by the Office of Public Works. The information sought by the Deputy in regard to bodies under the aegis of my Department is a matter for them and I have no function in the matter.
