Vol. 327 No. 12

Written Answers. - Curragh Sheep Drinking Water Facilities.

301.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that there is no drinking water available for the sheep grazing on the Curragh, County Kildare, and that this is a matter of concern in the area; and if his Department will provide drinking troughs at certain points on the Curragh.

The provision of drinking water for sheep grazing on the Curragh of Kildare is the responsibility of the owners of the sheep. My Department have granted permission to Kildare County Council to provide drinking troughs for sheep at a number of locations on the Curragh. I am informed that the council are in communication with the Curragh Sheep Owners' Association about the financial and other conditions which would apply.
