889.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant for first-time home purchasers will be paid to persons (details supplied) in County Dublin.

A grant cannot be paid in this case until certain remedial works agreed to by the builders, the Structural Guarantee Company and my Department have been carried out to the scheme of houses involved. When the builders satisfy my Department that these remedial works have been completed, this and other grant applications will be further processed.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

A grant will be paid when a inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with.

891.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), the latest date for the completion of works and the receipt in the Department of claims for payment was 30 June 1981. As this statutory requirement was not complied with in this case, a grant cannot be paid.
