asked the Minister for Education if he will give a list of all civil servants and ex-civil servants in all State boards under the aegis of his Department; and the fees and expenses payable to each such person at 31 December 1981 and 31 March 1982.

The only civil servants or ex-civil servants on boards under the aegis of my Department are the following who are members of the Higher Education Authority:
(i) Mr. D. O'Laoghaire, former Secretary of the Department of Education who is seconded to the position of chairman of the Authority. His salary as chairman is the same as that of a secretary of a Department and no allowance is payable to him.
(ii) Mr. Eoin R. O'Neill, Deputy Secretary, Department of Labour. Allowance payable on 31 December 1981 and 31 March 1982: £800 p.a.
(iii) Mr. Michael J. Barry, former Secretary of the Department of Agriculture. Allowance payable on 31 December 1981 and 31 March 1982: £800 p.a.
Under section 11 of the Schedule to the Higher Education Authority Act, 1971, a member of the Authority shall be paid such amounts in respect of expenses as the Authority consider reasonable. The expenses paid to members of the Authority are calculated with reference to civil service regulations
