The only relevant information available to my Department regarding unemployment resulting from receiverships is that contained in formal notifications of redundancies furnished under the Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 to 1979, by the receivers concerned. These Acts, however, relate only to workers who are fully insurable and who have been employed for a minimum of two years.
Of the 53 receivers whose appointments were notified to the Registrar of Companies in 1983 up to 24 June statutory notifications of redundancies have been received in my Department in 26 cases. The total number of proposed redundancies involved is 1,096.
