asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is proposed to provide a public telephone at Drumgallagh, Ballycroy, Westport, County Mayo.

Drumgallagh is not included in this year's programme. Its merits will be considered in due course for inclusion in the 1984 programme.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is proposed to provide a public telephone at Cashel, Achill Sound, County Mayo.

Cashel is not included in this year's programme. Its merits will be considered, in due course, for inclusion in the 1984 programme.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is proposed to provide a public telephone at Shranamonragh, Ballycroy, County Mayo.

The provision of a public telephone kiosk at Shranamonragh is not considered warranted at present and it is not proposed, therefore, to provide one there.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is proposed to provide a public telephone at Saula, Achill Sound, County Mayo.

The provision of a public telephone kiosk at Saula, Achill Sound is not considered warranted at present and it is therefore not proposed to provide one there.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the access routes that will be used at the new telephone exchange at present under construction at Summerhill, Dublin and the car-parking facilities that will be available there.

Pedestrian access to the new automatic telephone exchange at Summerhill will be by Summerhill or North Rutland Place and vehicular access will be by the latter road. Some facilities for parking will be available but the number of spaces for cars and official vehicles has yet to be decided.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when terms will be quoted to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly for a business telephone which he applied for three years ago.

It is expected that terms for telephone service will be quoted to the person named about the middle of next year.

I very much regret the delay in providing telephones. However, within a year the vast bulk of applications will be met on demand.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be repaired for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6, as it was installed on 19 July 1983.

Service has been connected for the person named and is now satisfactory. I am sorry for the delay, which arose because of a cable fault.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone kiosk will be erected at Garryhinch Cross, Portarlington, County Offaly.

Garryhinch Cross is not included in the current programme. Its merits will be considered in due course for inclusion in the 1984 programme.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Kildare as she requires it urgently.

It is taken that the question refers to an address in River Forest Estate, Leixlip, Co. Kildare. Service will be provided as soon as possible for the person named but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed before the middle of next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a firm (details supplied) in County Dublin as they first applied in November 1978.

The firm named has telephone service. An additional line will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work can be completed before the middle of next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that in reply to Parliamentary Question No. 436 of 14 July 1982, it was stated that a telephone service would be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath within a year and that he is still waiting for service; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the previous question and reply which was delivered by my predecessor.

I regret that it has not been possible to bring the necessary additional exchange equipment into operation as quickly as was expected because of pressure of other urgent work, mainly maintenance.

Present indications are that it will not be possible to provide service for the person named until well into next year.

I very much regret the delay in providing telephone service for the person named. However, it will not be possible to meet this application until necessary additional engineering work is carried out.

The objective of the Department's current telephone development programme is to provide a fully satisfactory telephone service nationally in terms of both quality and availability by the end of 1984 and it is expected that service will be provided for the person named about the middle of next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin as he has been on the waiting list for eight years.

I very much regret the delay in providing telephone service for the person named. Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed before the middle of next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone service will now finally be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin having regard to the fact that his Department advised him on 18 August 1982 that the installation would be completed when the Department was working in the area.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be transferred for a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

Telephone service will be transferred as soon as possible for the person named but it is unlikely that it will be possible to do so until a new exchange has been brought into service at Ashbourne next year.

I am sorry for the delay in providing telephones. However, the vast bulk of applications will be dealt with on demand by the end of next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a telephone extension was not provided for a person (details supplied) in County Kerry as it was requested on numerous occasions.

Telephone service was provided for the person named last month, Further inquiries are being made regarding an application for an external extension which was received on 28 November 1983. The applicant will be contacted as soon as the inquiries are completed.

425.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason £99.56 rental is being charged per quarter to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry, in view of the fact that he paid seven years rental in advance prior to the provision of the service; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Due to a clerical error rental was incorrectly included in the accounts in question. A rebate will be allowed for the excess rental involved.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Kerry who applied early in 1983.

It is expected that service will be provided for the person named within about three months.

427.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in replying to representations made by Deputy John O'Leary on the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry who obviously received a wrong telephone account recently, as the only response was to issue a seven days' notice to him; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Two points were raised in the representations of 10 November 1983 on behalf of the subscriber concerned. One of these was dealt with and a reply issued on 8 December 1983. The other, dealing with the telephone account aspect, is still being investigated. I shall communicate with the Deputy when these investigations are completed.
