Vol. 359 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

40.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider paying a £5,000 grant to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The processing of applications for the £5,000 grant, including the question of determining an applicant's eligibility for the grant, is a matter for the appropriate local authority. In this case the grant will be paid by my Department if and when a payment certificate is received from the local authority confirming that all the conditions of payment have been met.

41.

asked the Minister for the Environment when payment of a mortgage subsidy will issue to persons (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The first instalment of the mortgage subsidy was paid to the persons named on 23 May 1985. The second instalment is not due for payment until March 1986.

42.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a final inspection will be carried out and payment made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in respect of her house improvement grant application.

An inspection of the house was carried out in this case in January 1985 arising from a request for payment of the grant. The inspector reported at that time that the work had not been completed and no subsequent communication has been received from the applicant. However, a further inspection will now be arranged with a view to payment of the grant, if in order.

Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the inordinate delay in the payment of grants in respect of Curris group water supply scheme, Kilcar, County Donegal; and when it is intended to have these grants paid.

The payment of final grants to the Doonin-Curris group water scheme must await the submission by Donegal County Council of a revised certificate of completion of the scheme and confirmation from Roinn na Gaeltachta of the eligibility of certain group members for Gaeltacht grants. These matters are being followed up by my Department.

44.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the new £5,000 grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

Information submitted by Offaly County Council in conjunction with the payment certificate indicated that contrary to the terms of the scheme, the total of the loan and grants allocated to the applicant in question would exceed the cost of the house plus the legal fees involved. This matter has been referred back to the council for clarification.
