The total number of posts in my Department on 31 December 1985 was 841. In addition, there are 86 temporary clerical trainee posts which have recently been allocated to my Department. (Of these, 77 have been assigned). I propose to circulate a detailed breakdown of the posts by grade in the Official Report.
For management purposes, my Department is divided into four main areas, each under the direction of an assistant secretary. These are as follows:
1. Manpower policy including National Manpower Service and work creation schemes.
2. Safety, Health and Welfare. This assistant secretary also has responsibility for Personnel, Finance.
3. Industrial Relations, Equality legislation and new legislation.
4. International Organisations, Conditions of Employment, Redundancy and Insolvency.
I propose to circulate more detailed information in tabular form in the Official Report.
