In accordance with the Defence (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1960, only contingents of the Permanent Defence Force may be despatched for service outside the State as part of an International United Nations Force. In the circumstances members of An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil are not eligible for overseas service with a United Nations Force.
