A notice was published in the daily newspapers on 21 February 1986 inviting those wishing to avail of the amnesty to complete the appropriate form (1B 20) which could be obtained from any tax office. The latest date for completion and return of the form is 29 July 1986.
I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that they expect that applications for form 1B 20 will continue to be received over the next four months or thereabouts and that accordingly it is premature at this juncture to provide a reliable indication of the likely extent of the response to the amnesty.
