My Department does not normally provide playing fields for second level schools. In the case of community schools the development of playing fields is a matter for the board of management in co-operation with the local community with the Department making a grant towards the cost.
A grant for this purpose was approved for Bailieboro community school in February 1983 and subsequently paid to the board of management. It is understood that the work has yet to be completed and that the board will be making a further application to the Department. This will be considered on receipt.
