The benefit of the first phase increase (3 per cent) of the public service pay agreement was applied to the pay of all ranks of the Defence Forces with effect from 1 May 1986. The terms of the agreement also provide for two further phases as follows:—
2 per cent increase with effect from 1 January 1987; and
2 per cent increase with effect from 1 May 1987.
